Our teaching approach helps the students to improve their mosaic vocabulary in the contemporary way.
You will gain new perspectives about your work and practice, learning about the synergism between materials, shape and content. All our mosaic classes are based on homemade ready sketches. Done to teach you as best as possible the Spilimbergo School methods we love!

All our subjects are prepared by ourselves, to be able to teach you at best the technique.

All our courses are held with a limited number of participants, with a maximum of five participants to ensure the best teaching.

Master mosaic teachers

Exclusive teaching by artefact.

During the workshops you will be introduced to a wide variety of materials, explore techniques, be encouraged to experiment with colour and texture and begin to discover the possibilities of contemporary mosaic art. A real, modern teaching method, with specific sketches to help you understand what contemporary mosaic is all about. You'll be involved in every stage of the creation of your piece, using the traditional tools, the hardie and hammer in an innovative way!

We both have the diploma of master mosaicist, obtained after three years of study at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, the only legally recognised mosaic school. We also attended the specialisation course reserved for the six best students each year.
It's no coincidence that our workshop is in Venice, where the glass we use in our products has been made for centuries. The mosaics that decorate St Mark's Basilica have always been a source of inspiration for us. And Italy, the cradle of a taste and creativity that is also appreciated abroad. Roots that can be found in everything we produce, in the attention we pay to every detail, in the care we give to every element.

Animal portraiture mosaic workshop

You'll discover all the rules and tricks of the contemporary technique created by the students of the Spilimbergo School. It's the perfect way to gain confidence in your work. You'll explore composition, rhythm and colour and discover new perspectives on your work, learning about the synergy between material, form and content. Hammering and hard carving techniques are used for stone and glass, and tesserae are set in mortar using the direct method. Slightly easier than the human portrait, the rules are very similar and you'll learn all the steps and tricks to create your own animal portrait in an original contemporary mosaic! Icon mosaic workshop

Much easier than the contemporary human portrait, the rules are quite similar, you will learn all the steps and tricks to make your own original icon mosaic! Through this workshop you will experience all the rules and tricks of the Byzantine method as taught at the Spilimbergo school. Byzantine mosaic is so special and each icon has something magical, don't you think? You will be given a short theory lesson for each important step of the creation of your week. You will learn how to handle the mosaic hammer to create the tesserae that give that inimitable look of the school's mosaics.The mixing of colors, thanks to the smalti, will give that unique rendering thanks to the Byzantine andamenti. A golden background can be realized, with some fees calculated from the surface to cover.

In this workshop you'll try out all the rules and tricks of the contemporary technique created by the students of the Spilimbergo School. You'll learn how to manipulate the hammer to create the tesserae that give the school's mosaics their inimitable look; you'll learn how to mix colours, materials and shapes to create the most modern andamenti; a short theory lesson will be given for each important stage in the creation of your week. Designed for advanced students, participants must be familiar with marbles and have experience with hammer and hardie. Students will work from a pre-selected portrait to focus on learning design techniques and the application of materials.

Indirect mosaic method workshop

The true Venetian technique, created and used for the most beautiful mosaics of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This technique requires a great deal of concentration as the subject is created in reverse. You'll only discover the result when you apply your mosaic!

Professional workshop

The courses are aimed at professional mosaicists who wish to deepen their knowledge and learn the comprehensive process of contemporary mosaic and create their own works, from sketch to application with qualified masters.
The aim of these courses is to teach students to acquire high level technical skills that stimulate creativity and knowledge capable of combining an ancient craft with the most contemporary way of doing things.
The programme is designed and prepared specifically for each student. This programme provides essential knowledge and skills that can be applied at home.
Students will learn from renowned master mosaicists, graduates of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, who are leaders in their field. Both hold the Master Mosaicist diploma, which can only be obtained after three years of study at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli - the only legally recognised mosaic training institution - and after attending the specialisation course reserved for the six best students each year. You'll benefit from in-depth tuition in a relaxed atmosphere, so you'll leave with a complete knowledge of the specific characteristics of materials, methods, sketching, project management, implementation and execution of any project or commission.
The classes for professional provide you the skills to work in mosaic in order to create aesthetically pleasing and technically right mosaics.
